What Are Growth Groups?
Growth Groups are closed groups of 6 to 12
people who meet regularly for prayer, care and
Bible study.
• Growth Groups are a sermon based “lecture-lab”
model that provide the opportunity to not just
hear a sermon, but also grapple, study, discuss
and apply God’s Word in the context of honest
and open relationships.
• Growth Groups are a great way for new folks and
long time attenders to enter deeper into “Life at
Grace” by providing an opportunity to move
beyond Sunday morning chit-chat.
• Growth Groups help make a large church feel like
a small church by providing smaller settings
where the Biblical “one anothers” are practiced
and experienced.
• Growth Groups are settings where timeless
Biblical truth is internalized through the shared
practice of prescribed Biblical functions in the
context of real Biblical community.
• Growth Groups are the “front line” for care and
shepherding at Grace.
Why
"Sermon-Based" Growth Groups?
1.
It’s a model that maximizes learning
and application by taking into account
different learning styles. Learning dramatically
increases when people are given the
opportunity to hear, take notes and discuss.
2. It’s a model that unifies the congregation
as multiple groups study, learn and apply the
same material together and grow in the same
direction at the same time.
3. It’s a model that’s flexible in that it allows
different leaders to springboard off of the
sermon material in their own individual ways.
4. It’s a model that’s scalable by allowing the
creation of new groups on a continuous basis
as the church grows.
5. It’s a Biblical model. Jesus Himself taught in
large group settings and then discussed
His sermon in small group settings. (Mt. 13)
